Wild Card Clinched by Hoover HS: The Hoover HS Pirates could very well have acquired some new fans late this season, as the team's 2060 playoff chase saw them win the wild card as the season wound to a close.
"It's an exciting time to be a fan of the Pirates. I think we had people on the edge of their seats wondering what would happen," said catcher Avery McKinney.
What ended up happening is that the team's 22-16 record has allowed it to move on to the postseason, with a chance to win the 12th HS Championship in franchise history.
"It's only going to get more exciting from here on in," McKinney said.
