Washington Wins Brewmasters Cup Crown: The Washington Bats ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Maine Guides 8-3 to win the Brewmasters Cup.
Washington won the series 4-1, capturing the title for the 10th time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Washington manager Pat Fiume. "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 98-64 and claimed first place in the Import League Stout Division.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and center fielder Abel Kazaz said the Bats have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
