TC Roberson HS Stops Mays's Hit Streak: Late in the game, all eyes in The Port were on Gregory Mays as he stepped into the batter box. His 20-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Mays, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.

If there was a silver lining for Mays today, it was that his Gulfport HS Admirals won the game anyway, stopping the TC Roberson HS Red Claws by the score of 4-1.

"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Mays told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

A look at his current stats shows Mays with a .313 average, 16 home runs, 44 RBIs and 26 runs scored. He has played in 36 games.
