The Mesa third baseman massacred Scorpions pitching, cracking out three home runs and going 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs and scoring 3 runs. But this sensational performance didn't really matter. Scottsdale won the ballgame 6-4 despite the three homers.
"I wish a big 'W' had come with this," he said. "It's great to hit three homers, but the bottom line is whether you win or lose."
Nonetheless, Jones will now have a place in the league record book.
"I guess when you're hot, you're hot," he said. "I'm not going up there trying to hit home runs. I put the good part of the bat on it and luckily three of them went out today."
