Smashing Success: Dyer Wallops 3 HR: It was a special day for Landon Dyer, but less so for the Fresno Chilies.

Dyer slammed three home runs against the Vicksburg Dirtbags, but the Dirtbags outhit him and got the win by a score of 18-17.

"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."

The Fresno first baseman finished the day at The Chili Pepper with 6 hits in 6 at-bats, 6 RBI and 6 runs scored.

Landon Dyer doubled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Darnell Anderson in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Abe McCrary in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off James Krumm in the 11th.

Thus far this season Dyer has hit .320 with 14 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 49 times.
