Salazar Tosses Shutout Against Sapporo: "Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Manuel Salazar of the Daejeon Monks proved the point at Buffalo Grounds today, holding the Sapporo Shogun to 1 hit in a complete game shutout victory.

"Salazar made us look real bad today," Shogun manager said in a postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Salazar had 6 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Monks took the 5-0 win.
