Round 2 to Lake County: The Lake County Captains pulled out all the stops tonight, winning the Round 2 in a hard-fought series with the Quad Cities River Bandits.
It was a seesaw affair, but with a 4-1 victory at Modern Woodmen Park, Lake County lay claim to the franchise's 1st championship.
"There's no denying we faced a tough opponent," said Mario Escobar. "But as the old saying goes, 'when the going gets tough, the tough get going,' and that's what we did today."
The champs finished the regular season 94-45 and claimed first place in the Eastern Division.
A victory parade is set to be schedule in Lake County in the days to come.
