Round 1 Goes the Distance, Lancaster Prevails: The fans in Lancaster are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Long Island.

The Lancaster Barnstormers finished off the Long Island Ducks 6-2 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Bethpage Ballpark.

They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Round 2.

For his standout play, Lancaster right fielder Alex Martinez was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.

He batted .310, drove in 7 runs and scored 6 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Martinez and that doomed us," said Ducks manager Tim Christie. "Hats off to Lancaster, though. That was a great series."

The Lancaster Barnstormers will play against the Sugar Land Skeeters in the next round. Sugar Land won their series against the High Point Rockers 4 games to 3. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on September 13th , 2080.
