Round 1 Goes the Distance, Hartford Prevails: In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Hartford Defenders have edged the Vung Tau Vipers.

The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 6-5 win in the clincher being the difference for Hartford and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 4-3 series triumph.

"We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said Corey Buntin, who was named series MVP.

For the series, Buntin hit .464 with a .500 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Hartford Defenders don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Walkerton Scarlet Knights - Santa Clara Vanguard series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
