Pituch Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 22: Late in the game, all eyes in Gateway Field were on Tommy Pituch as he stepped into the batter box. His 22-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Pituch, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.

If there was a silver lining for Pituch today, it was that his Chicago Dogs won the game anyway, stopping the Memphis Blues by the score of 2-1.

"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Pituch told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 22 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

This season Pituch is batting .314 with 9 home runs.
