PA Hands Out Reliever of the Year Award: Werner Payne said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 23 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Columbia River Rats rising star has won the USPL Single A Reliever of the Year Award for 2054.

He captured the award on the strength of his 0.91 ERA over 59.2 innings. He also had 4 saves in 35 relief appearances, 71 strikeouts and only 15 walks.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Ketema El Hindi of the South Beach Blaze finished second in voting, while Francisco Suárez of the Myrtle Beach Seahawks finished third.

Player - Team - First Place - Total Points
Werner Payne - Columbia River Rats - 9 - 46
Ketema El Hindi - South Beach Blaze - 0 - 30
Francisco Suárez - Myrtle Beach Seahawks - 0 - 9
José Torres - Walla Walla Walleye - 1 - 5
