Number 2000 for Hiura: Keston Hiura started out as a baby-faced rookie many seasons ago. Yesterday at Ballpark of San Antonio the San Antonio veteran joined the league's 2000-hit club. Hiura achieved that milestone with a 2-for-5 day in the Armadillos 7-5 win over the Holbrook Hawks.
He spoke to reporters in the clubhouse after the game and said, "Looking at the list of all the great players who have done this is humbling. It is a great honor to be among them."
In 2012 career games Hiura has hit .274 with 2000 hits, 314 home runs, 1012 RBIs and scored 1070 runs.
