New York-Penn League Best Pitcher Named: Ironbirds ace Ben Rhodes is the latest New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Year trophy winner. The Aberdeen star shined on the diamond time and again this year and finished with an outstanding 9-1 record.
In 12 starts he tossed 95.2 innings, posted 78 strikeouts and sported a 1.51 ERA. Opposing batters hit .174 when Rhodes was pitching. He received 36 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Doug Richardson of the Aberdeen Ironbirds finished second in voting, while Stan Betancourt of the West Virginia Black Bears finished third.
