The New York Mets have officially captured the crown, the 12th in franchise history.
"We've got a team that can do it all and we think do it just as well as anyone in the league," said closer JT Ginn. "I hope no one is taking us lightly once the playoffs start."
Certainly the team's division crown will garner them a fair bit of respect, as the 88-69 record puts the club in position for the franchise's 5th COBB championship.
"You never get tired of being in the playoffs," said manager Ryan LaMarre. "This is what you play for."
