Mater Dei HS Playoff Hopes Officially Zero: When it comes to a late-season playoff disappointment, the old axiom "wait until next year" isn't overly comforting.
"We really thought we would get into the playoffs this year," said Mater Dei HS Monarch Lions starting pitcher Coby Szanto. "It's really disappointing to come up short."
Before this season, the Monarch Lions last missed the playoffs in 2057. In the 34 years they have been a High School franchise, they have missed the playoffs 25 times. In the last 10 seasons, the Monarch Lions have missed the playoffs 4 times.
