Maples Fizzle in 1-0 Loss to Comets: The Toronto Maples were almost helpless today in their 1-0 loss to the Kingston Comets and hurler Gabriel Rodríguez. Rodríguez kept the Maples confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Rodríguez," Toronto manager G Maloney said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 32-year-old left-hander had no walks and 4 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Rodríguez said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
