M3L Single A Names League's Best: At the age of 24, Gerard Hurd of the Idaho Falls Chukars could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2054 was good enough to win the second baseman the M3L Single A Outstanding Hitter Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .284 batting average this year, as well as a .359 on-base percentage. He played 95 games and racked up 103 hits, 22 doubles, 3 triples, 11 home runs, 41 RBIs and 55 runs scored.
He received 5 first place votes out of a possible 12. Juan Rodríguez of the Holy City Herons finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Joe Henderson of the Idaho Falls Chukars finished third with 1 first place vote.
