League Suspends van den Burgt: It got ugly on the field today in the Shockers and Baby Lakers game, when Kjeld van den Burgt was ejected for arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire. Before he left the dugout area, van den Burgt threw a few bats and a garbage can on the field toward home plate.
League officials thought the Surprise center fielder went too far and gave him a 2-game suspension.
"Sometimes your emotions get the better of you and you just sort of lose control," van den Burgt told reporters, "but that doesn't mean I was wrong, just out of control."
