Larent Nielson Blanks Charleston, 4-0: Larent Nielson kept the opposition off the scoreboard and the Oklahoma City 89'ers were all smiles after winning 4-0 against the Charleston Rebels at Boilermakers Ballpark today. The left-handed Nielson gave up no runs in his start, permitted 2 hits and had 13 strikeouts.
"If there was a stat for 'team shutout,' this would be it," Nielson said later. "My catcher called a great game, guys delivered at the plate and when I messed something up the guys behind me were where they needed to be."
So far this season Nielson has a 5-5 record, 16 starts, 106.1 innings, 150 strikeouts and a 2.79 ERA.
