Kokesh Smashes 3 Homers for Austin: It was a special day for Al Kokesh, but less so for the Austin Rustlers.
Kokesh slammed three home runs against the Mobile Minotaurs, but the Minotaurs outhit him and got the win by a score of 7-5.
"Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em."
The Austin left fielder finished the day at Cowboys Ballpark with 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Al Kokesh hit a two-run home run off Kagen Ortiz in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kagen Ortiz in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Robert Castonguay in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
This season Kokesh is batting .304 with 19 home runs. He has scored 53 runs and driven in 58.
