Humes Pitches Gem as Bears Beat Raleigh, 7-0: The Raleigh Oaks ran into a buzzsaw at Bears Ballpark today as Sacramento Bears starter Tommy Humes cut them down to size, 7-0, tossing a 2-hit shutout.

"That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," Bears manager Laughlin Erb told reporters after the game. "Tommy knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."

In the complete game whitewash, the Sacramento hurler doled out 2 walks and registered 7 strikeouts.

So far this year Humes has made no relief appearances with no saves, thrown 94.2 innings and struck out 84 with a 7-3 record.
