Hot Bat Cooled, Vierling Hitless Against Emperors: Late in the game, all eyes in MGM Park were on Matt Vierling as he stepped into the batter box. His 22-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Vierling, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.

If there was a silver lining for Vierling today, it was that his Biloxi Shuckers won the game anyway, stopping the South Browning Emperors by the score of 6-2.

"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Vierling told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 22 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

Thus far this season in 40 games Vierling is batting .329 with 1 home run, 32 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has 54 hits in 164 at-bats.
