Gales on to Round 2: The Galway Gales bandwagon is filling up fast, as the team has moved one step closer to winning a Round 3 championship.
Galway downed the Chesterfield Queens 17-3 tonight at Gales Ballpark, to take the Round 1 4-2.
"It seems much more real now and we're really starting to realize we've got a great shot at this thing," said Gustavo Alamillo, who was named series MVP. "When we play our best we're as good as anybody in the CBD Double A."
For the series, Alamillo had 9 hits for .333, with a .379 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 6 RBI and scored 5 runs.
The Galway Gales will play against the Baltimore Jaspers in the next round. Baltimore won their series against the Amarillo Armadillos 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
