Dyer Batters Vicksburg for 6 Hits: Fresno first baseman Landon Dyer added his name to the record books with a 6-hit spree at The Chili Pepper today, but found his special moment spoiled when the Vicksburg Dirtbags took a shootout win over the Chilies.

"I would have much preferred getting only a couple of hits and winning the game," he confessed to reporters afterward. "It's hard to go back into the clubhouse and celebrate a 6-hit game when you also lost."

Chilies manager Robby Childress called Dyer's game "a once-in-a-lifetime moment."

"It's a shame the guy can't really enjoy it," the skipper said. "It's also a shame what happened with our pitching today, but at least that we can try to fix."

Landon Dyer doubled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Darnell Anderson in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off Abe McCrary in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off James Krumm in the 11th.

Currently Dyer is batting .320 with 82 hits and 14 home runs. He has knocked in 38 runs and scored 49 times.
