Chicks Shut Out Cossacks, Perez Winner: Danny Perez was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Memphis Chicks hurler tossed a 7-hit, complete game shutout against the Kyiv Cossacks.
"I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Perez. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings."
Perez walked 3 and struck out 6 in the 4-0 victory.
His record this year is 11-10 in 15 starts and Perez has a 4.16 ERA.
