Cedar Rapids Southpaw Tosses 8-0 Shutout: The Cedar Rapids Kernels shut out the Beloit Snappers 8-0 today behind the strong pitching of Marty Marino. Marino surrendered only 5 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 3.

Following the last out, Marino appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Beloit manager Tony Garza, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken left-hander as the clubs left the field. Marino's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.

The Snappers skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Kernels press conference, Marino confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.

"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Marino said.

"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Cedar Rapids manager Ty Moore added.

This year Marino has posted a 1-8 mark in 11 starts and has a 6.36 ERA.
