Career Over -- Elijah Holt Retires: Elijah Holt is stepping away from the game of baseball at the end of the season. The New York Yankees player gave a brief explanation to reporters this afternoon.

"It's time to step away from the game and work on phase two of my life - world domination," the 43-year-old joked.


Holt wisecracked for several minutes while reminiscing about high and low points of his career. At the end of the session, Holt sent a personal message.

"I truly thank all you fans."

Holt has a career .282 average with 3483 hits, including 567 doubles, 210 triples and 613 homers, collected 2143 RBIs, scored 1868 runs and compiled a .346 OBP.
