Message:
Cardeñas 5-for-6 Against Philadelphia: Even as a kid, Ernest Cardeñas said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Coors Field today, Cardeñas showed how well he learned that lesson.

The 27-year-old second baseman had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Colorado Rockies, helping his team knock off the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 7-6.

"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did today."

Ernest Cardeñas hit an RBI double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th and singled in the 11th.

This year Cardeñas has 1 home run and a .353 batting average.
