Boss Jr. Whacks 3 out of the Park for Death Valley: Death Valley Scorpions first baseman Mike Boss Jr. sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Outer Banks Aviators, Boss Jr. told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from Boss Jr. pushed the Scorpions past the Aviators, 7-3. To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Boss Jr. told reporters after the game.
Mike Boss Jr. hit a three-run home run off Rayz Funk in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Rayz Funk in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Rayz Funk in the 5th and struck out in the 7th.
In the current season, Boss Jr. has put up a .293 batting average with 24 hits, 8 home runs, 30 RBI and scored 21 runs.
