Black Bears Won't Get Playoff Berth: It's not quite the championship run that fans in Virginia might have envisioned. The Virginia Black Bears were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today.
"There are a lot of good clubs in Skyline Baseball League and unfortunately we couldn't quite make it into that elite group this year," said Black Bears manager Amari Betties.
The Black Bears have missed the playoffs 49 times in their 63 years as a Skyline Baseball League franchise. This playoff miss is the club's 15th in a row, with their last postseason appearance coming in 2027. Virginia last won the Skyline Cup Series in 2026.
