Best NYP Reliever Named: Terry Witherspoon was a calming influence out of the Aberdeen Ironbirds bullpen this season.

His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 23-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the New York-Penn League Reliever of the Year for 2039.

The West Tawakoni, Texas native won the award with 7 saves in 24 relief appearances, 37 strikeouts in 41 innings and a record of 5-2 to go with his 1.54 ERA.

He received 36 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Sandy Rodriguez of the Batavia Muckdogs finished second in voting, while Sam Tomaka of the Batavia Muckdogs finished third.
