Ahrens Thwarts Chicago, 4-0: Fred Ahrens held the Chicago Traders to 5 hits and fashioned a fine 4-0 shutout at Union Field today.

Speaking after the game, Cleveland Bobcats manager Daniel Mays said "Ahrens had everything going for him today. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement. He was masterful."

Ahrens rung up 4 strikeouts and surrendered no walks in the game.

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," Chicago manager Patrick Joseph told reporters.

So far this year Ahrens has made 10 starts, tossed 74.2 innings, struck out 40 batters and walked 18. His record is 8-1 with a 2.17 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .194 batting average.
