Shorebirds Win Lautering Trophy Crown: The Myrtle Beach Shorebirds were good enough to get past the Fort Lee Generals at Lubbock Grounds today and secure the 6th championship in franchise history.
"When you wear Shorebirds on your shirt, you're good at something," Myrtle Beach skipper Norm Downward told the press.
Shorebirds catcher Jaxon Guest was named MVP of the series after he went .500 with no home runs and 1 run batted in.
"It feels totally incredible," Guest said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."
The new champions capped off a great season with a 6-4 victory over the Generals to win the Lautering Trophy 2-1.
