Patriots Lose Aponte for Season: Roberto Aponte has to call it a season. The Pawtucket Patriots starting pitcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Eagle Mountain Scavengers and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Aponte was injured while throwing a pitch. His doctors diagnosed it as a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament and stated that he would not be able to play for 7 months.

Aponte has gone 1-4 this season with an ERA of 3.25 and 20 strikeouts in 27.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .245 against him.
