Schmidt silenced the Monterey Sea Lions, 4-0, in a Salem Senators triumph at Sea Lions Stadium today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Schmidt said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 1 walk and 1 hit.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
On the year Schmidt has worked 127 innings with 158 strikeouts en route to a 9-2 record and 1.49 ERA.
