Defenders 1B Cote Gets the Cycle: Most fans have never seen a player hit for the cycle, and most players have never done it -- but it happened today at Labatt Park. Earl Cote of the San Juan Defenders accomplished the feat against Pittsburgh Monongahelas.
Cote went 4-for-5 with 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run in the 7-6 San Juan victory.
"That was one for the grandkids, am I right?" Cote said after the game.
Cote also scored 3 runs and had 3 runs batted in in a day to remember for both Cote and the crowd at Labatt Park.
Earl Cote doubled in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off John Hansen in the 5th, singled in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
Thus far this year Cote is batting .286 with 13 home runs, 30 RBIs and 36 runs scored.
