The 32-year-old first baseman is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Pérez sustained his season-ending injury during the Veragua Shockers game yesterday at Veragua Grounds. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while being hit by a pitch. Today the Juan de Herrera medical staff reported Pérez had a broken kneecap and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6 months.
