Wood Twirls 6-0 Shutout: The Chicago Chiefs were almost helpless today in their 6-0 loss to the Boston Minutemen and hurler Ed Wood. Wood kept the Chiefs confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Wood," Chicago manager Joe Ward said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 33-year-old left-hander had 3 walks and 2 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Wood said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

This year Wood has registered 9 wins and 4 losses in 13 starts with a 2.24 ERA while registering 31 strikeouts and 29 walks in 104.1 innings.
