Velásquez on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle: It was a quite a day for Tony Velásquez at Dukes Ballpark.
He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is -- a single, double, triple and home run. The De La Salle left fielder accomplished the rare feat during his team's 18-11 victory over the North Gwinnett Ghostriders. "I never even thought about hitting for the cycle and what do you know, I did it," he told BNN reporters at the postgame press conference. "The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it's the win that's important." Velásquez went 4-for-5 in the game with 5 runs batted in and 4 runs scored. Tony Velásquez tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jesús Hernández in the 3rd and flied out in the 5th. So far this year, Velásquez is batting .432 with 10 home runs and 37 RBIs. View Boxscore |
