Silva Socks It to Yankees, Cracks 5 Hits: The Pittsburgh Pirates stopped the New York Yankees by a score of 15-0 at PNC Park today, with the lion's share of the credit going to catcher Omar Silva. The 30-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.

"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Silva said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."

Silva did just that in his 5 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Yankees.

"Not much that I can say," offered New York manager Ozzie Guillen. "He just hammered the heck out of us."

Omar Silva singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off Patrick Morris in the 7th.

This season Silva is hitting at a .295 pace with 1 home run, 14 RBIs and has scored 10 times.
