Sandoval Tags Number 500: It's official. Gabe Sandoval of the Pittsburgh Pirates hit his 500th home run tonight.

The Pittsburgh Pirates took on the Cincinnati Reds and downed them 4-1, but the big story of the night was the milestone home run for Sandoval. He rounded the bases with a smile and politely stepped on home plate and walked back to the dugout.

"500 is a big number, and I am thankful for the ability to get to this milestone. But it's all about the team today, my accomplishments are just one piece to the Pirates puzzle."

The Pirates designated hitter went 1-for-4 with 1 home run and 2 runs batted in as the Pittsburgh Pirates topped the Cincinnati Reds.

Sandoval has a lifetime .368 average with 3080 hits, 567 doubles, 83 triples, 500 home runs and 1693 RBIs to date.
