Round 1 Goes the Distance, Columbia Prevails: The Columbia Fireflies and Asheville Tourists put on a classic Round 1 that was in question until the final game.

In the end, Columbia won the deciding contest by a score of 13-6, to take the series 3-2.

"It doesn't get much tighter than that. To win a series in the last game is a thrill," said Earl Hall, who earned series MVP honors for Columbia. "Our guys are breathing a little easier now."

For the series, Hall hit .500 with a .565 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Columbia Fireflies will play against the Hickory Crawdads in the next round. Hickory won their series against the Delmarva Shorebirds 3 games to 0. The Championship schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
