Rice Sizzles -- Smokes Fightin' Irish for 5 Hits: It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Dwayne Rice, it came around today.

The 15-year-old second baseman scattered hits all over Dante Benedetti Diamond at Max Ulrich Field to pace the Blessed Trinity Black Bears to a 14-11 victory over the Sacred Heart Cathedral Fightin' Irish.

Sacred Heart Cathedral skipper Brady Raggio told reporters in the press room that "Rice deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Rice hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Dwayne Rice hit an RBI single in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run triple in the 9th.

This year Rice has batted at a .370 pace with 119 hits, 12 home runs, 71 RBIs and scored 65 times.
