Redwoods End Cortés's Streak: It was the best of both worlds for the Redwood City Redwoods today at Redwood Park, as they defeated the Portland Privateers 7-4 and also snapped Miguel Cortés's 21-game hitting streak. The 33-year-old Portland left fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against Cortés, we just wanted to win the game," said Redwoods skipper Glenn Tutt. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Cortés frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

This season in 92 games, Cortés has hit at a .361 clip with 112 hits, 13 home runs, 71 RBIs and 60 runs scored.
