Pomper Rips Hongsong for 5 Hits: No matter what the Hongsong Checkers threw at him today, Gustaf Pomper hit it. He easily handled Checkers pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Conchs to a 10-4 triumph at T-Rex Ballpark.
"The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball," he told BNN reporters in the postgame interview.
Told of Pomper's quip, Checkers skipper said he "would take him up on that next time."
Gustaf Pomper walked in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Posting a .295 batting average to date, Pomper has no home runs and 7 RBIs.
