Pirates End Machuca's Streak: The Fort Lauderdale Pirates pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Ulises Machuca hitless in 4 at-bats during the club's 3-2 victory over the Cape Coral Hammerheads at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium. The disappointing performance ended a 22-game hitting streak for the second baseman.

"I'm a little down right now," Machuca said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."

In 28 games this season Machuca is batting .322 with 39 hits and no home runs. He has scored 18 runs and driven in 18.
