Martínez Shuts Out Power, 5-0: In an outstanding mound performance, Veragua Shockers starter Frederico Martínez fired a complete-game shutout against the Kanir-Dup Power at Veragua Grounds today.
Martínez was the key to the Shockers's 5-0 win. The 28-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 4 hits and 1 walk he allowed.
"4 hits?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
For the season his stats show Martínez has no saves in no relief appearances with a 6-4 record and 2.04 ERA.
