Kester Smacks 3 Out of the Park: It was a good day for the San Diego Padres and an exceptional one for Jason Kester. The 26-year-old first baseman sent three bombs out of the park to help the Padres beat the Philadelphia Phillies 11-5 at Citizens Bank Park.

"When you're in the zone, the game really slows down," Kester said when asked about his performance later. "I couldn't even tell you what pitches were thrown. Today feels great, but it is a long season and tomorrow is another day."

For the day, he scored 3 times, drove in 7 runs and smacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats.

Jason Kester hit a two-run home run off Israel Sanchez in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Tony Shrum in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Tony Gonzalez in the 9th.

Kester is hitting at a .393 mark this season. His stats show 5 home runs, 11 RBIs and 5 runs scored. He has played 7 games for the Padres.
