Hit #2000 for Baseball Team Castillo: César Castillo's bat made good contact with the ball as he has many times in his career, but this time it added his name to an elite list of players with 2000 hits.
"This is a tremendous honor. You grow up dreaming of becoming a Baseball Stars Association player, but never did I ever think I would get to this point," an emotional Castillo said after the game.
The Mexico City right fielder went to the plate 5 times and racked up 2 hits to gain the honor. But the Baseball Team couldn't pull off a win -- they fell to the Irvine Gang Green, 4-3.
"It certainly would have been nice to have won, but tomorrow is another day. I'm going to enjoy this moment with my friends and family," Castillo said.
During his career Castillo has compiled a .301 batting average and collected 2000 hits, 348 home runs and 1218 RBIs.
