Gonzalez Fashions Shutout Against Tides: All went well for Severino Gonzalez of the Syracuse Chiefs as he pitched his team to a 5-0 shutout victory over the Norfolk Tides, limiting them to 2 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Gonzalez on the day.

"Severino's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Chiefs manager Billy Gardner Jr.. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."

In the contest, the Syracuse right-hander rang up 9 and surrendered 1 walk.

"He didn't give us any second chances," said Tides manager Charlie Poe. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."

This year Gonzalez has recorded a 5-1 mark. In 6 starts he has fanned 45 batters in 44.2 innings with a 1.01 ERA.
